Social Networking Sites - Present Day Benefactor For Bollywood Newbies

Do you think things are getting complicated with the recent developments in technology? Well, I believe exactly the opposite; the technological developments are not complicating things but are rather making the things uncomplicated. Distances have contracted, world has come near, what we have today was not even imagined just 25 years back.

So you are a struggling actor, or an amateur writer, or a rookie in the field of music you hardly have to worry the way strugglers had to worry just 15 years back or so. The so called social networking sites and micro-blogging sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc have made struggling not so struggle-some task!!

Strugglers today get global opening. They get to interact with like minded people from all over the world which also opens before them global opportunity to prove their talents. Various online forums let you learn the tricks of the trades you are aspiring to pursue in. The social networking sites make you aware of the latest job opportunities and requirements, and then there are special communities and groups where even the experts tell you what you need to do to succeed in your field.

A typical day of a Bollywood struggler today starts by checking out the latest Twitter updates or Facebook updates by the various groups specifically meant for the newbie actors, singers, and so on. There are several such groups that keep updating the latest requirements to help the strugglers find placement in the tough world of Bollywood. Then there are several support groups helping newcomers find their ways out of the misleading clutter all around them.

Well renowned film director Subhash Ghai who also has a film school in Mumbai says that today the talents are respected; actors, musicians, and even the technicians get hired by globally recognized recruiters today. The talents from India get to compete with the world class players. He is quite right in saying this, as it is not just movies the newcomers have to focus upon, there are numerous other opportunities like film training institutes, grooming centers, etc.

But could a person do all this without the present day’s technology, without the presence of social networking and micro blogging sites like Facebook and Twitter? Certainly not, how can you think of keeping in touch with people residing far off from you? After all, one can’t think of flying to New York and taking the connecting flight to Paris in search of opportunities for artists and actors! In fact one can’t even think of taking a local train and move around Mumbai the film city the whole day long!!

But one can certainly think of clicking around various social sites and fixing up the meetings with Bollywood messiahs guiding on these sites as there are various Bollywood stars, especially directors and filmmakers who try contacting newbies for there movies using the social sites. That’s indeed a far more possible and practical way to fulfill your dream of turning into a Bollywood star one day!

Twitter Highlights of Politically Incorrect Tinsel Town Stars

Just 140 characters at a time and that is what all you need to be in the limelight of 21st century.

Box office is not sparkling too much as big budget movies like Guzaarish, Kites and Raavan had fallen disastrously on big screen. But in spite if this autumn the stars are shinning bright with secret tattles and spilling the beans on Twitter and television shows.

Bollywood Celebrities On Twitter

Though the onscreen spirits were less high and lacked spice in 2010 but the micro blogging site Twitter was gleaming smart with top highlights, hearty feelings and grudging comments. From oldies of Bollywood to budding newbies …all are set on Twitter with overwhelming to sarcastic comments and from promoting their films to blaming the editors for the fall of film.

Walking the trace line of ‘any publicity is good publicity’, stars are overly prepared to comment anything and everything out crying controversial statements and going public to shout their grievances in just minimum sentences through Twitter.

The coolest way to connect with fans and friends, Twitter is becoming a hot favorite place to showcase the triumphs plus promoting films and the attached contentions. Few among them was the clash between 3Idiots’ producers and Chetan Bhagat for the diminished credit given to the writer for the movie and that really made him upset.

Previous to that was Shahrukh’s airport detention incident in United States dominated the Twitter highlights and thereafter in 2010 it continued when Shiv Sena threatened the release of much awaited movie crafted on the theme of 26/11 – My Name is Khan.

Where microblogging is taking over the stars…the twittering funda is becoming a war zone of celebrities. The ShiveSena-MNIK controversy, clashes between Shobha De, Punit and Sonam Kapoor, gaga of the sizzling chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in spite of Kites falling down in the air, break up of Deepika Padukone and Ranbeer Kapoor, all are the hot trending topics of Twitter with spicy tweets gathering up together to entertain common men but the most profitable part is that the website is gaining popularity worldwide.

So keep tweeting guys….after all we can enjoy the celebrity spark and zest off screen too!

Twitter – An Important Part of Today’s Electoral Strategies

Election is the time when politicians are ready to do anything and everything. Politicians know it quite well that popularity is the first and foremost factor that makes them succeed in the elections. It’s true that present day politicians have better options than what the politicians of the yester years had. Moreover, they are adept enough not to miss even a single opportunity by which they can reach the voters and influence them. Be it the present day’s social media sites like Facebook and Twitter; or be it posters, pamphlets, and landline phones of the past.

Politicians On Twitter

The recent U.S. election, held in October this year, can be taken as a representation of this political strategy for influencing the voters. Republicans and the Democrats both were found using all possible tactics to reach the potential voters. Traditional method of pamphlets, posters and the landline telephones were all used in the election campaign along with the technically more sophisticated online social media networks.

Those who couldn’t be reached by tweeting were contacted by emailing, and the ones who were not so internet savvy were interacted by the landline telephones, which can now be considered as the great grand father of today’s smart phones! It was found that people who were too busy to visit Facebook or Twitter did check their mails, thus campaigning was done via emails. And the older generation say above 45 years were found more comfortable with conventional phones i.e. landline telephones.

But at the same time, the social media sites were found more profitable in reaching the younger potential voters. Again, the younger generation was easily reachable by calling on their cellphones where as the older generation could be reached by using the landline phones. The main aim of the politicians is to influence people and earn votes from them and to fulfill this aim they need to be in the comfort zones of the potential voters, and it hardly matters to them by what means they enter their comfort zones and take the voters into their confidence.

Now since Indian citizens too are getting internet savvier, the Indian politicians too have started using the social media networks for their election campaigns. They too ask the voters to support them, keep updating their supporters about the latest electoral moves, and say thanks to the supporters, etc. Meera Sanyal is one such Indian politician who was quite active on Twitter during the elections in April 2009. Perhaps the future of Indian elections too lies in social networking as lots of politicians or the political party members are busy joining such sites these days!

What Makes Following The Indian Celebrities On Twitter Interesting?

Indian Celebrities On TwitterIf you are ever asked what clothes fascinates you most? What places you love the most? What food you would love trying once? What will be your first thought then? Well, don’t really know about you but most people think of doing what their favorite celebrities do or what has become famous because of some famous people.

The other day I saw, to my astonishment, that a young girl was searching for the dress which Sonam kapoor wore in her last film. The shopkeeper kept showing her lots of great dresses but she had only that dress in her mind. This is also true with people joining various social networking sites and the micro-blogging giant Twitter. When Sachin first made his presence on Twitter, all Sachin fans, who never were net savvy and never had an account on Twitter, thronged in there. How come they all got the Twitter-mania? Yeah, it is true, Twitter-mania is quite common these days, and most net savvy people get housed at the Twitter world but people who scarcely surf the net are also reported to be loitering in the lanes of Twitter!

It is not just Twitter that is becoming famous because of famous people, even the famous people are helped by Twitter to earn extra chunks of fame. This is how Mr. Tharoor’s name has become a household name today with newspaper talking about his Tweets! Celebrities add a special charm to the world of Twitter. It is simply great to see them on the micro-blogging site. Celebrity fans always take interest in every next thing that talks about their favorite stars or what ever the stars do.

Years back people depended on TV-shows, Bollywood-gossip magazines, and the page 3 content from the local &national dailies to feed themselves on the latest gossips from the Bollywood world but today they have much faster means like gossip blogs and social networking sites. Interestingly, Twitter proves to be much faster than these faster means of gossips as the stars themselves post the gossips and insights from their personal lives. Earlier people had to read the interviews of the stars to get a slice from their personal lives but now we have the stars themselves tweeting about their personal lives that include everything starting from what breakfast they had, with whom did they fight, what’s their next plans to their party photographs and picnic videos and if the fans are lucky enough they even get replies from their favorite stars. And fascinatingly, some stars keep tweeting round the clock!

Can anyone think of getting such an experience of nearness from the glittering celebrities if they do not follow them on Twitter? I guess, most of us would say no, so it is better that you keep following the stars at Twitter!!
